Privacy policy
- Wallumour has no accounts. We don't collect your name, email or any other personal data.
- No ads and no advertising tracking. From version 1.0.2, anonymous usage data and crash reports go to Google Firebase, and you can turn them off in the app.
- Notifications are off unless you turn them on: from version 1.0.3, about one a week when new wallpapers arrive.
- Your favourites and settings stay on your device, and in your phone's own backup if you use one.
- Wallpapers are loaded from Wallumour's content server, hosted by Cloudflare, which sees the requests your device makes.
Who we are
Wallumour is a wallpaper app for Android and iOS. In this policy, "we" means the developer of Wallumour. You can reach us at amlab.devs@gmail.com.
Data stored on your device
Wallumour keeps the following on your device. It is never sent to us:
- The wallpapers you mark as favourites
- How many wallpapers you have downloaded
- The wallpapers you recently downloaded or set, used on your device to suggest similar ones in "For you"
- A copy of the wallpaper list, so the app opens quickly and works offline
- Whether you have finished the introduction screens
- For the rating prompt (see "Rating the app" below): when you first opened the app, the first few wallpapers you set or saved from the maker (up to 10), and when the app last asked or was asked the alerts question
- A random support ID (for example WLM-AB12-CD34). It is created on your device and only leaves it if you choose to share it with us when asking for help.
If you back up your phone (Google backup on Android, iCloud on iPhone), this data is included in that backup and restored when you set up a new phone. That backup is stored by Google or Apple under your own account; we never see it. Uninstalling Wallumour deletes the data from your device.
Wallpaper images
The wallpaper list and images are served from Wallumour's content server (wallume-content.pages.dev), hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When the app checks for new wallpapers, or you browse, preview, download or set one, your device requests the files from that server. Like any website, Cloudflare receives your device's IP address and basic technical information with each request in order to deliver the files. If you turn on auto-change (You → Auto-change wallpaper), the app downloads one wallpaper per change in the background, in the same way. We don't use this to identify you. Cloudflare's handling of that data is covered by the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Usage data and crash reports
From version 1.0.2, the Android app uses Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) so we can fix bugs and learn which wallpapers people like. It sends:
- App activity: which screens you open, and which wallpapers you preview, download, set, favourite or share (by wallpaper ID, with its category and collection), whether you skipped the introduction, how many results a search found, and when the app asks the store to show its rating sheet (with how many wallpapers you had set by then). Never the text you search for.
- Crash reports and diagnostics: when the app crashes or hits an unexpected error: the error, app version, device model and Android version.
- An app instance ID that Firebase creates for this installation, so events from one app can be counted together. It isn't linked to your name or email.
It does not collect your advertising ID or Android ID, and the data isn't used for advertising or ad personalisation. Firebase also receives your device's IP address with each request; Google uses it to estimate your country and doesn't store it. Google processes this data for us as described in Firebase's privacy information. Analytics data is deleted automatically after at most 14 months.
Turning it off: in the app, open You → Your privacy choices → Turn off. The app then stops sending usage data and crash reports.
App settings from Firebase: the Android app also asks Firebase Remote Config (Google) which features are switched on, when it starts and, while auto-change wallpaper is on, about twice a day in the background. That request carries the installation ID Firebase creates for this copy of the app and your device's IP address, and nothing about what you do in the app. It is needed for the app to work, so it isn't part of the choice above.
New wallpaper alerts
From version 1.0.3, the Android app can send you a notification when new wallpapers arrive, about once a week. It is off until you turn it on: the app asks once, after you first download or set a wallpaper, and you can change it any time under You → New wallpaper alerts.
When you turn alerts on, Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) creates a messaging token for this installation, so that the notification can reach your phone. The token isn't linked to your name or email, and we use it only to deliver these notifications. If usage data is on (see above), Firebase also records that a notification was received or opened.
Turning it off: in the app, open You → New wallpaper alerts → Turn off. The app stops listening for alerts and deletes the token. You can also turn off Wallumour's notifications in your phone's settings.
Rating the app
After you have set a few wallpapers, the Android app may ask Google Play to show its rating sheet (the iPhone app will ask the App Store once it has the same switch). The sheet belongs to the store: a rating or review you enter there goes to Google or Apple, as it does when you rate an app in the store itself, and is handled under their privacy policy. The app doesn't see what you enter and isn't told whether you rated. You can close the sheet without rating; the app asks at most once in sixty days.
AI Wallpaper Maker
The AI Wallpaper Maker is the app's Create tab. If you use it, the description you type (the prompt), the preset you chose and, for a remix, which wallpaper you started from are sent to our server, which runs on Cloudflare. Cloudflare's AI service turns the prompt into an image and checks it against our content rules. The image is sent back to your phone and is not kept on the server; wallpapers you make stay on your device until you delete them.
The app also sends a random number created for this installation, so the server can count your free wallpapers for the day. It isn't linked to your name, your account or your device, and reinstalling the app creates a new one. We store it, and your internet address, only in scrambled (hashed) form. We keep the text of your prompts for 30 days to investigate reports and improve what the maker refuses, then delete it; we keep counts of how often the maker is used. If you report a wallpaper, we receive the reason you chose. Email amlab.devs@gmail.com to ask for your prompts to be deleted sooner.
Likes and download counts
This is being tested and is only in test versions of the app for now. Each wallpaper can show how many people liked it and how many downloaded it. When you tap the heart on a wallpaper, or download or set it, the app tells our server (which runs on Cloudflare) which wallpaper it was, together with the same random installation number described above. We use it only so that each installation is counted once per wallpaper. It isn't linked to your name, your account or your device; we store it only in scrambled (hashed) form, and reinstalling the app creates a new one. Your internet address is used, scrambled, only to limit misuse (a daily cap), and isn't stored with your likes or downloads. Your favourites list itself stays on your phone.

Contacting us

Changes to this policy
If Wallumour starts collecting more data (for example through accounts or ads), we will update this policy before that version is released and change the effective date above.
